Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon Serving Manhattan, New York City & Nearby NY
As we age, the effects of years of facial muscle movement are visible as laugh lines, crow’s feet around the eyes, and creases near the nose and lips. Restylane® and Juvéderm™ can help fill in these lines and creases, producing a smoother, fuller, and more youthful appearance.
Dr. Joshua Hyman is proud to provide Restylane and Juvéderm to patients in Manhattan, New York City, and nearby areas of New York. Restylane and Juvéderm are made of hyaluronic acid, a natural compound which is normally found in our skin. As an alternative filler material, fat cells may be transferred from another part of your own body. Because your body will eventually absorb the filler, the effects are only temporary, but the procedure can be repeated.
Initial Consultation for Restylane and Juvéderm or Fat Transfer Injections
During your free consultation with our plastic surgeon, he will discuss your objectives and expectations from the procedure with you. This will include a complete medical history and an examination of the skin and soft tissue of the face. Dr. Joshua Hyman will suggest a procedure that suits you best and answer any questions that you might have.
Both Restylane and Juvéderm are injected using small needles into the deep layer of the skin or lips. The skin is “plumped” and creases and fine lines are filled in. Both products may be used alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as BOTOX® Cosmetic. The procedure takes 30 minutes to perform, and is done in the office under local anesthesia. The results are visible immediately. No bandaging is necessary, and makeup may be worn the same day.
During fat injection, fat cells are first harvested from the patient’s abdomen, thighs, or buttocks. They are then prepared and re-injected into areas of wrinkling or hollowing in the patient’s face. Small areas can be addressed under local anesthesia in the office, while larger injections are done in Dr. Joshua Hyman’s private ambulatory surgery facility. The procedure can take between 30 minutes to two hours depending upon the number of areas to be injected.
Some patients experience bruising for several days after the injections, and you should schedule your injection at least one week in advance of an anticipated event or meeting. The effects of the injection last between four and six months, although this varies among patients.
