A tummy tuck, or “abdominoplasty,” is performed to create a firmer, flatter stomach.
How is a Tummy Tuck Performed?
This procedure is performed in our private, AAAASF-certified onsite surgical suite under anesthesia. The incision scar is lower on the abdomen, and Dr. Hyman prefers an incision much shorter than that placed by most other plastic surgeons. We follow each patient’s healing closely and deliver scar management therapy at no charge for the first year after surgery.
During this surgery, Dr. Hyman tightens the belly with a special suture called Quill TM, which creates an extremely tight abdominal wall without the problem of suture knots. Suture knots can lead to infections and other complications. He may employ abdominal wall nerve blocks with long-acting anesthetics such as Exparel, which help abbreviate recovery time and minimize reliance on pain medications. Dr. Hyman offers "no narcotic" post-surgery pain relief for all his patients as well if desired.
